Myself, a Non-EU National along with my husband Dan, an EU National (Irish), have taken a leap of faith and decided to pack up our lives in the UK and move to Fuerteventura permanently. We
have created this website to document our journey and we hope to help others who are looking into going through the same venture by sharing our own experiences on the process of moving to this paradise Canarian island.

We first visited Fuerteventura
in 2018 and instantly fell in love with the island.
The all year round sunshine and warm weather, the quality of life and the beautiful beaches are amongst the many reasons that really got us hooked. Since buying a property in 2021, we have been visiting every 6 to 8 weeks, mainly for the much needed sunny weekend get aways as well as exploring more of the island. Every visit has made us realise how much we want to live in Fuerteventura. One day, after a long and thoughtful conversation, my husband and I made the decision to just
do it!
So we quit our jobs and set our plans in motion.

With my husband being an Irish Citizen, our plan is to apply for his residency first - Tarjeta de Identification del Extranjero - TIE. Following that, we plan to apply for my EU family member residence card, which, at the time of writing this post, the EU family member residence card is valid for 5 years which then requires renewal 😒. But that's neither here or now, so in the meantime, join us on our journey and explore Fuerteventura with us!
